Casting Bronze

STEP 5: Pulling the Wax

Hot wax, at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit is applied in a thin layer to the inside of the Mother Mold. This first wax layer fills in all the details of the rubber inner layer. Additional layers of cooler wax are then applied to create a shell. It is important that each successive layer is poured at a cooler temperature so that it does not melt the previous layer. When completely cooled, the wax shell is then pulled from the mold.
